History of the Pastor Support Ministry

The IBC of Baltimore City notes that there were no official records kept of the IBC of Baltimore City Church until 1938 under the pastorate of Reverend Doctor Edmond D. Meade, Sr. D.D. Dates and records of the IBC history were captured through research of Court Documents, Newspaper Articles, Printed Church Events, that is dated events on envelopes, tickets, Church Bulletins and our Heritage, the passing down of information through generation of family historians known as GIOTS.

In accordance with documented dates on The Pastor's Aid Programs, The Pastor's Aid Organization began in AD Nineteen Hundred and Two (1902), under the Pastorate of our Label Founder, Reverend James H. Reid. Reverend Reid passed from this earthly life to be with our Lord and Saviour in 1907 and that phase of the Pastor's Aid was disbanded.

The Pastor's Aid was reactivated under the leadership of our Third Pastor, Reverend James H, Williams who was called to pastor the Church in 1910 in which the Church continued to grow after a very in-depth re-organization. The Pastor's Aid was reactivated under the leadership of Chairlady, Sister Lillian Dickerson. She served as Chairperson for a number of years. In 1937, after the passing of our Third Pastor, Reverend James H. Williams, the Pastor's aid was once again disbanded.

In February 1938, The Pastor's Aid was reorganized under the leadership of Reverend Edmond D. Meade. Pastor Meade was a God-Sent Man, who for thirty-eight (38) years was Pastor of I.B.C. The Church was enriched by his endurance, love, humility, patience and courage he exemplified for his members. Reverend Meade retired in December 1976 and remained active as Pastor Emeritus until his death on December 29,1984.

The Chairperson serving under Pastor Meade were:

Sis. Adelaide Seymour 10 Years (1938-1948)
Sis. Marion Wilson 2 Years (1948-1950)
Sis. Eva Garner-Williams 19 Years (1950-1969)
Sis. Cornelia Jackson 10 Years (1938-1948)
Her time ended due to Reverend Meade, Sr. retirement.

The Pastor's aid was again disbanded while awaiting the leadership of God's Anointed One to Shepherd His Flock.

The Reverend Harlie Walden Wilson, II, was nominated to Pastor Israel Baptist Church of Baltimore City in April 1977. Pastor Elect Dr. H.W.Wilson,II, was installed as Pastor of Israel Baptist Church on April 16,1978.

On November 29,1978, The Pastor's aid was reorganized under the leadership of Pastor Wilson. Many persons have come to Christ because of Pastor's Wilson dynamic preaching, teaching and evangelizing which takes place in and out of the confines of our sanctuary. Pastor Wilson has been able to reach many of people in our crime-infested areas of our community as well as the entire world.

In his continuous effort to spiritually strengthen his flock and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ (32) Ministries have been established and/or re-established as Pastor Wilson allow God to use him. In 1993 Pastor's Aid was re-named Pastor's Relations Ministry.
